Are veneers permanent?

Return to FAQs

If you’re looking for a way to significantly improve – and even transform – the appearance of your smile, there may be no better way than with porcelain veneers, and Dr. Narra has the skill and the artistry to create veneers that will look fantastic for years to come.

Part of the process of getting porcelain veneers involves the removal of a small amount of your dental enamel. This is done to allow the veneers to sit correctly so that it looks like your own natural tooth. Without the enamel removal, the veneer would sit slightly higher than the rest of your teeth, creating an imperfection.

Dental enamel does not grow back on its own. Once this enamel is removed, you must keep your tooth protected with dental veneers. This also means that getting veneers is a decision that should be made with careful consideration and consultation with Dr. Narra to make sure that this choice is right for you.

Veneers are designed to be durable, but like your own natural teeth, they can eventually become worn down or stained. When this happens, you will need to replace the veneers. How long will your veneers last? Proper home care and good habits can keep your veneers looking great for up to ten years, but this can vary. Once you have veneers, we’ll keep an eye on them to make sure that they are in good condition.
